[Melaka] The Fat Bee Cafe

  • Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Price range: RM8 - RM30
  • Unsure if halal or non-halal
  • Ambiance: Cafe
  • Style of cooking: Western/Fusion
  • Recommended order: Coffee, chocolate brownies
  • Address: The Jetty, No. 12A, Jalan Syed Abdul Aziz (Behind Holiday Inn Hotel)
  • Business hour: Daily, 11:00AM - 12:00AM

The Fat Bee is one of the most Instagram-able friendly cafe in Melaka. Its eclectic interior is Kinfolk-worthy (possibly due to the glass panels that allow plenty of sunlight in the cafe). With is French jazz music playing in the background, one can easily drift into relaxation within minutes.

The sweets and desserts at The Fat Bee is freshly prepared in their sister cafe Backlane, located at Jonker Street. You are guaranteed with fresh cakes and sweets made from quality ingredients. Our favourite is the chocolate brownies.

Although we are extremely excited to promote its cafe, coffee and desserts, we find that the food isn't as good as we expect. There are hits and misses. Stick to the pasta and avoid the fusion. The pasta is handmade fresh in their kitchen.

[Melaka] Palsaik Korean BBQ

  • Rating: 3 out of 5
  • Price range: RM100 - RM200
  • Ambiance: Restaurant
  • Address: 58 & 60, Jalan Melaka Raya, Melaka.
  • Business hour: Daily; 11:30 - 23:30
  • Non-halal

Palsaik is one of the famous Korean BBQ chain restaurants. It has finally landed in Melaka. Located at a strategic location - Melaka Raya, the Palsaik restaurant has plenty of carpark and reachable in the city.

The recommended order here is the 8 flavour BBQ, cheese fried rice and ginseng pork. The 8 flavour BBQ comes with pork belly marinated in the flavour of hot pepper, miso, curry, herb, garlic, pine leaves, wine and ginseng.

If you take the set, it comes with a seafood steamboat in kimchi broth and different types of seafood such as prawns, crab, shell fish and fish.

The classic Korean seafood pancake is also one of the best sellers. Unfortunately, we find the taste mediocre, especially the pancake is very soft and lack of crunchiness.

Overall the Palsaik is a good place to hangout with friends. The BBQ is pretty unique, especially there is a lack of Korean food options in Melaka.
