  • Price range: RM5 - RM30
  • Ambiance: Restaurant
  • Address: Lot 450/451, Bandar Bukit Baru Seksyen 5, 75460 Malacca
  • Business hour: Opens daily, 5PM - 1AM

If you pass by along AMJ towards Melaka Sentral, you probably have seen a long stretch of cars parked along the road. Right after Petron, there is a three-storey container restaurant stood magnificently along the highway. This is probably the hottest hang-out spot for young hipsters.

The concept of the Leezo Container Restaurant is pretty interesting. Not only the container building is a novel thing in Melaka, the alfresco dining experience also give a breath of fresh air to Melaka's restaurant scene.

Cool glass
They serve Western and also Local food. You can expect pasta, steaks, burger and some classic local dishes. There are also some fusion food such as sambal pasta.

Overall the food is pretty ok, but not extremely awesome. It is a little mediocre in terms of the taste. However, the experience dining there is quite cool and a good place to bring family and friends to catch up.

The upper deck is open for reservation and no walk-in. To book, you will need to pay RM20 additional charge on top of the bill. It is a great place for small parties.

[Melaka] Vietnamese Food (Lai Chi Fang Kopitiam)

  • Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Price range: RM6 - RM10
  • Ambiance: Hawker
  • Address: Lai Chi Fang Kopitiam, No.72A & 72B, Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho
  • Business hour: Saturday & Sunday, 8:00AM - 11:00AM
  • Non-halal

If you are craving for Vietnamese food in Melaka, you wouldn't have guessed that there is a humble Vietnamese food stall located inside the Lai Chi Fang coffee shop. This stall was once the pioneer of Vietnamese food in Melaka. From a brick-and-mortar set up in Melaka Raya, the owner have taken a semi-retired life by transforming his big business to a small stall. There might be a change in their business operation, but rest assured, the quality of the food is not compromised.

The beef pho (authentic Vietnamese beef noodle) (RM9) is made succulent beef and served with a generous amount of vegetables. The noodle broth is infused with authentic Vietnamese spices and made of homemade beef stock.

If you don't take beef, there is also an option of pork pho (RM6). The broth is made of pork stock.

Typically, the pho is enough to feed a hungry stomach. If you're up for more good food, do also try their fresh Vietnamese spring roll. The soft and chewy rice wrap compact with fresh vegetables and prawn or fried barbecue pork.

It would be your lucky day if there is rice pancake available on that day. The rice pancake is made of rice flour and top with crunchy bacon. If you crave for this, it is advisable to order one day before as the preparation for the rice pancake takes a long time.

We totally recommend you to try it for yourself for two reasons - the great taste and the budget price tag. It is a meal prepared with love. It takes the chef the entire weekday to prepare for her weekend business. All the ingredients are prepared from scratch and even the sauces are made by herself. Did we mention that the chef is a Vietnamese? That may add the authenticity to the food served.

Do call Goh Vietnam at 012-2322917 to pre-order the Vietnamese roll and rice pancake. It is not available at the stall unless you order it earlier.
