[Melaka] Hotel Equatorial Melaka Welcomes Orphans & Senior Citizens of Melaka

In light of this holy month, Hotel Equatorial Melaka together with Institut Seni Melaka (ISMMA) had organized a 'Balik Kampung' buffet dinner for underprivileged children and senior citizens as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the attendance of some Hotel staff and institute personnel.


This year, the committee had invited orphans from Rumah Anak Yatim Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Islam Daerah Jasin, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Perkampungan Hang Tuah to join in breaking-fast together at the Hotel's Grand Ballroom.

Upon arrival, the Hotel management team greeted 123 orphans, 20 senior citizens, caretakers and committee members of individual homes. Led by Hotel General Manager Mr. Adrian Chung and an entourage of Equatorial associates, these special guests of the night were escorted to the Grand Ballroom where the 'Balik Kampung' Buffet Dinner was hosted. A live Malay traditional music by ISMMA was also performed to welcome the guests.

The opening ceremony of the dinner night was started by the master of ceremony and emcee with a short introduction about the holy month followed by welcome speeches from Mr. Adrian Chung, the General Manager of the hotel and the Chairman of ISMMA. Y.Bhg Tan Sri Datuk Wira Prof. Abdul Latiff bin Abu Bakar.



It was a sumptuous local buffet dinner of local Malaysian dishes served, such as Roasted whole lamb, a variety of Melaka favourite, biryani rice, Malay kuihs, ice kacang and much more.

Duit raya and goody bags were also given away to these children on stage. Lastly, a group photo was taken with Hotel Equatorial Melaka and ISMMA together with these special guests. The event was one to remember and assisted in extending Equatorial's care element in the local community.

Moreover, this occasion allowed Equatorial associates to further bond with one another and exchange knowledge about local tradition and culture.
