The Vietnamese food scene in Melaka is pretty low key. We don't know any of the Vietnamese restaurants until the Saigon Ivy Cafe came by. The restaurant is operated by Vietnamese, you bet the food is served authentic Vietnamese style.

To start with, we ordered the deep fried pork and vegetable spring rolls (RM9.80) from the appetizer menu. The ingredients are wrapped in rice paper and then deep fried until golden.

The Vietnamese Glutinous Rice (RM7.80) is an appetizer by nature in terms of the serving size and also taste. However, the misrepresenting it as a main course. It is plain glutinous rice served with shredded pork flakes and Chinese barbecue sausage.

For the mains, you cannot go wrong with the Pho Bo (RM10.80) which is the traditional Vietnamese Beef Noodle. The beef are sliced thinly and not overcooked. However, we notice the lacking of beef balls in the bowl.

The Grilled Pork with Egg Pie Rice (RM11.80) is also one of the dish that you should try. The grilled pork has honey sweetness in it. The sweet sauce compliments the grilled pork really well.

Help yourself with the classic Vietnamese sauces on the table.

You also can't miss the Vietnamese milk coffee served (RM6.80) in the signature dripping pot. The coffee beans are imported from Vietnam as well.

Overall, the food tasted authentic Vietnamese. However, there are a little fine tune to the ingredients needed to perfect the dishes. I reckon it is the availability of the ingredients that they had to change the recipe to suit what we have in Malaysia. Earlier this year, the shop often closed at dinner time. It was hard to catch them open but they have improved on their business hours now.
